► Amanda Blank / I Love You (electro/techno) / Released Aug 4, 2009
Honestly, I don’t know what to call Amanda Blank. The girl’s definitely cut from Baltimore clubs; however, Ms. Philadelphia is a bit electro, booty bass, hip hop, new wave, she’s all over the place with swag and cuteness for days. I Love You (Downtown) is that mash-up of sounds, and the girl’s mouth?? Whoa! Check your opinions about what you thought about white girls from Germantown at the door. “Lemme Get Some” and “Gimme What You Got” had my jaw on the floor (still does!). For a taste of Amanda, she’ll be at Urban Outfitters – NYC on Aug 25th.

► Roy Davis Jr. / I Have a Vision feat. Erin Martin (house/soul) / Released Aug 11, 2009
After Amanda Blank (no diss), I had to cleanse my ear palette with Chicago house legend, Roy Davis, Jr. The first single “I Have A Vision” from a new project is already making rounds with Scion as part of their A/V Remix Project. For the free download and a bunch of other goodies, hit up one of my favorite electro record labels, Om.

► Joker, 2000F and J Kamata / Digidesign (dub step/experimental) / Released Feb 23, 2009

I know I’m behind the power curve on this one, but I’ll bet my tofu money I’m not the only one. As one would guess, Joker is British and Digidesign/You Don’t Know What Love Is is from the Hyperdub catalog – a dark and funky track, and it just may be my new favorite. BTW: if you dig this one, cop a listen to Do It/Psychedelic Runway EP, as well.
