by greg dybec

Ari Marcopoulos, the visionary photographer and film artist, has played his humble part in the art world since the late seventies. Originally hailing from the Netherlands, Ari made his way to NYC and began working as Andy Warhol’s assistant in the eighties. Since then Ari has lent his dynamic talent and casual mind to skaters, actors, and hip-hop artists across this great nation.

Artist: Gary Wilson
Song: Dream

Through-out the years Marcopoulus’ snap shots have been able to capture the elegance and simplicity of anything that crosses his lens. His versatile career has landed him along side iconic artists such as Run-DMC and The Beastie Boys, as well as photographing for countless skateboard and snowboard magazines throughout the decades.

Currently The Project Gallery located in midtown Manhattan is hosting Ari’s latest solo exhibit. Entitled “Fear God”, the exhibit displays all new photographs along with a webcam video with an on screen appearance by the artist himself.

This standout exhibit will be available for public viewing until December 19th. Ari Marcopoulos has always been able to express his remarkable critiques on society and subcultures through stunning images and film. This is your chance to check out his latest work first hand.
