QC GIVEAWAY: WAX TAILOR

by conrad

French trip hop producer Jean-Christophe Le Saoût, musically known as Wax Tailor, released his third album last week and is touring the U.S. during the month of October. His new stuff gives off a west coast vibe in the spirit of Blackalicious and J5. The first single off of In The Mood For Life is titled “Say Yes” and was released ingeniously on CD-Vinyl. Remarkably the new format can be played on CD players or turntables.

Artist: Wax Tailor
Song: Say Yes

The Giveaway: We’ve got a pair of tickets to Wax’s NYC date on Friday 10/2 at the Blender Theatre in Gramercy, plus some copies of the new release including the CD-Vinyl single. To lock up the tix or an album copy, drop us a comment on your favorite music format of all time. We’ll pick the winner in the next 24 hours. First prize gets the tickets AND the album, the next best four entries will just land the album. Good luck and be sure to check out Tailor’s myspace for more jams if you’re feeling it.

    gotta go cassette tape.

making actual mixtapes in grade school/high school is still my favorite past time..

p.s. and do you remember that scene in Who’s That Girl when Madonna steals all those tapes by planting others in some other customer’s jacket and then walks out when he sets off the alarm..

My favorite format is definitely vinyl. Can’t get a sweeter sound than that. Plus it means huge album art and possibly an enclosed poster (like the one of Prince in the shower framed and hanging in my living room). I love when new vinyl releases come with a code to download the mp3s too. Bonus. However this CD-vinyl business is quite intriguing! Won’t believe til I see it when I win this contest! I <3 QC!

In New York, NY 2009 no music format accompanies heeled boots, a fitted jacket and an “I’ll rock you” glare better than the ipod 8 gig black nano. That’s right, I’m talking about me, right now, BANG. I will admit however that there are certain classic rock artists that sound best on vinyl, Simon&Garfunkel, Beach Boys.

Gotta go with CDs. Something about that little circular disc makes my nipples hard, even to this day. I still go into used record shops and buy them. I don’t want to make the conversion to digital, i like having that little plastic case with the book on the inside. And the book is always so hard to get back into those fucking little slots on the inside. I love that.

CDs just sound good. Clean. I grew up on them, and as ashamed as I am to say the first album I bought was a Bobby Brown album, I am PROUD to say I bought that shit on CD. Still remember what it looks like. Plus, with this format, you get to use the classic joke:

    “CDs or tapes?”
    (you say “CDs”)
    “C-Dees nuts in yo mouth!!”

Oh man, that never gets old. Rock that plastic!
