Will this be a good weekend of sun and fun for the Reel? I hope so. The weather may not hold up, which is disappointing, but next week should satiate all your BBQ needs with patriotism to boot. It’s been an emotional week. Deaths have rocked the landscape and it is hard to digest something like that, but we are on the other side now. GIRLS OFFER UP SOME SAN FRANCISCO DREAMS
Girls are a San Francisco band not to be confused with The Girls from Seattle. We mentioned they have a new album coming out in September but if you need some tangential proof if the band is worth your time, check out this nearly seven minute long video for “Hellhole Ratrace”. This slowed down dream folk is something that I’m really digging. Check it out for yourself.
MY OTHER RECENT OBSESSION IS DINOSAUR JR.
Between my Sonic Youth obsession, my other obsession du jour happens to be Dinosaur Jr. I really liked their latest album and this performance from Jimmy Fallon is for Farm’s opening track “Pieces”. Stacked amps, long white hair, guitar solos, I’m sold.

Phil and the Osophers Think “We Have All Summer”
This young band has to good things going for them and that includes being able to play some tight pop tunes. Straight forward, the video is a nice take on when those long hours of summer with our friends.
