HAYNES JOINS ALLMAN BROTHERS & DEAD TOURS

by bob panza

Two things these bands have in common besides greatness and the absence of their extra-extraordinary lead guitarists: Their upcoming tours will feature Warren Haynes on lead axe. The Allman Brother’s will once again revive their traditional residency at the Beacon Theater in NYC, which began in 1989. These shows have been rescheduled from the canceled 08′ Beacon run while Gregg Allman continued his treatment for Hepatitis C. The Beacon will be freakin’ for 10 performances beginning on March 9th and run through Saturday, March 21st.

Artist: Grateful Dead
Song: China Cat Sunflower

The Dead
will also be touring for the first time in more than four years. Bobby and Phil will share the stage again with the remaining core of Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann. Ratdog keyboardist Jeff Chimenti will handle keys as Haynes reps guitar. Beginning April 12th in Greensboro the Dead will hit major cities including (but not limited to) New York City, Philadelphia, Chicago, LA and end at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, CA on May 10th.

Warren Haynes recently hosted his 20th annual Christmas Jam at the Asheville Civic Center with his master project, Gov’t Mule, amongst other musical acts The man has crafted himself as one of the top ‘go-to’ men in the business. Think about this, Phish>ABB>DEAD. I’m calling it, ‘Flashback time 09′.
