Happy New Year Wilco fans; Eerily enough as I’m sitting here listening to Wilco’s 2005 live double album Kicking Television (which is an incredible listen FYI), I just read Jeff Tweedy’s letter to fans detailing the bands upcoming release schedule. 2009 will bring not only the earlier reported follow-up album to 2007’s Sky Blue Sky in the spring, but another live album/DVD entitled “Ashes of American Flags,” chronicling their February 2008 shows at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium and Tulsa’s Cain Ballroom. “Ashes” is due in February or March right before the release of the LP. Tweedy also noted the band will offer “the usual summer hijinks with a new record and gigs everywhere imaginable.” I will say, after seeing Wilco for the first time not but 3 weeks ago, this is some fabulous news.
