MORE MUSIC WE DIDN’T POST ON VOL. 6

by roko flip

Some nice tracks have been shared through internet waves in the past week. We’ve got a nice blend of rock and electro for you, plus some non conventional Christmas jams which are pretty damn solid. Enjoy some more music we didn’t post on (until now), after the jump..

At first glance, it’d be easy to label Funeral Party as just another electro indie band heavy on guitar and screaming vocals. But upon further review, there’s an authenticity to their lyrics and their songs catch on fairly quickly. Fresh off some tour dates with Yelle, their Bootleg EP was released last week through Warner’s Independent Label Group. Their debut full length is due out in April ‘09.

Artist: Funeral Party
Track: Carwars
Damn.. The Deer Tracks kind of shocked me with this one. The androgynous duo out of Sweden released the sweetest little Christmas jam via Despotz Records. This beautifully melodic track seems to make the room a little warmer. Their debut album Aurora is set for a March ‘09 release.

Artist: Deer Tracks
Track: Christmas Fire
Oh Hot Lava. I feel like people either love or hate these guys. I admittedly sit somewhere in between but I enjoy this track immensely. You can see them live on January 10th at Death By Audio and decide for yourself. It’s an all ages show with Mixel Pixel and others for $7.

Artist: Hot Lava
Track: Apple Option Fire
Here’s another track from the constant electro producer, Max Justus. This guy is filled with fun and uplifting beats. I never thought this was my bag, but Max makes it easily accessible to the ear. His album Five Leaping Leopards came out last week via The Record Machine.

Artist: Max Justus
Track: Change Your Pants
You gotta love the Guilt By Association cover compilations. Volume 2 dropped a few days back featuring a myriad of indie mainstays like Cassettes Won’t Listen and Robbers on High Street. But the gem of the album is Kaki King’s “I Think She Knows”, honorable mention goes to Max Vernon’s pianofied cover of “I Kissed a Girl” and Lowry’s version of “Africa” which is pretty damn awesome. For legal purposes we can only post this Takka Takka track but you can buy the whole album at this itunes link

Artist: Takka Takka
Track: In the Air Tonight
