Some nice tracks slipped through the cracks during this hectic last week. As the title of this post indicates, it’s music we didn’t write on (until now). It’s a nice sampling of tracks from varied genres. Check it out..

BLAME IT ON OIL BY CULT WITH NO NAME:
Cult With No Name is a cool piano duo out of the UK. They’re definitely into the piano ballad but they’re pretty good at it. |

Zion I’s new full length comes out in early ‘09 but they’ve stayed in the news producing hip hop covers and remixes. Apparently the B-side of that mix is all indie rock and electro jams. This Santogold remix is pretty tasty. |

LOOKING AT THE SUN BY GRAMERCY ARMS:
Gramercy Arms call themselves as a “(r)evolving collective of New York based artists.” The band is comprised of members from Luna, Joan As Police Woman, Guided By Voices, and Dambuilders. Their debut release is self titled and out November 15th. |

JR. HIGHSCHOOL MAN BY THE TOWER OF DUDES:
The Tower of Dudes are some energized guitar strummers out of Prague. It’s not my personal style for a full album’s worth but I dig this song. I don’t know much else about them so you can check out more on their MS. |

A SONG OF BENEDICTION BY INTERSTATES:
The Interstates offer up some pretty solid instrumentals. This track isn’t new by any means but the label made it available for download recently so I figured I’d pay it forward. This band is for people who dig the vibe of Thievery Corporation, etc. |

GOOD TIME HAPPENING BY DONNY HUE AND THE COLORS:
Front man Donny Hue has a solo album coming out on Novembeer 11th entitled Tell Tall Tales. The 10 track disc is set for digital release and features Donny on acoustic guitar and harmonica. The full band started a west coast tour last week with stops planned for L.A., etc. |
