Photons are an eight-piece band from San Fran that just released their first 6 song EP. Complete with clarinets and bassoons, these guys have a low-fi indie sound similar to The Strokes or The Walkmen. Or at least that’s what I thought until I got to their fourth song, “Cease and Desist,” when the drums started pulsing through my Mac book and I heard the awesome rhythmic backing vocals. It pulled Photons further from Stroke territory and a bit closer to a band like The Magic Numbers. Watch out for them – it’s only 6 songs, but I have a feeling they might be a big deal.
