QC FIRST LISTEN: WHO KILLED HARRY HOUDINI

Hot damn, look whose gone and polished up their sound. I’m From Barcelona’s newest disc is a slightly softer more organized compilation compared to their first album Let Me Introduce My Friends.  Don’t get me wrong, I loved the first record! It was eclectically random in an intangibly sensible way. But this one, (upon my first listen) is a well composed narrative, building song by song, to a pleasant plateau that you want to hang out on. Front man Emanuel Lundgren shines on this record!

OPHELIA BY I’M FROM BARCELONA:

It’s a short ten track disc that spans around forty minutes but it’s not like anyone has extra time anymore or admits it if they do. The album features a beautiful duet with French singer/actress Soko. You have to hear it (below), it’s soooooo nice. Ok, I just got through my first play of the album and there’s honestly only one and half songs I didn’t REALLY like. And those songs weren’t even bad! The cd finishes with a sick little jam ballad called “Rufus” that lasts a little more than seven minutes, complete with backup vocals by the I’m Barcelona crew. This album is seriously good! It comes out in the U.S. October 14th on Mute Records. Definitely buy this. Pre-order it here.
